TGCoA SUMMER PLANT SALE JUNE 5 - 6
It’s not too early to start thinking about and planning for The Garden Club of Austin annual Summer Flower and Vegetable Show and associated plant sale which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. In addition to raising and entering your prize-winning vegetables and other horticultural jewels, you are also requested to contribute to the Plant Sale. We are sure there must be some of you who are busy rearranging your gardens or have plants that need dividing. While you’re at it, why not pot up a few of those little treasures to donate to the plant sale. Remember that some of the income from plant sales goes into our scholarship fund and the rest is used for other worthwhile projects ranging from gifts to Zilker Botanical Garden to helping to keep your dues low. Make sure your plant contributions look good (clean up the pot, shape up the foliage, give the plant a shot of fertilizer, etc.) and be sure to identify and tag them (sun or shade, moist or dry location, color of flowers, etc.). Including cultural information would also be great. We need and will accept help from everyone.
This year Lisa Kodosky will be in charge of the plant sale. She would appreciate it if you would include a suggested price for your contributions. Any of your plants that don’t sell can be picked up immediately after the sale if you want them. If you have any questions, please check with her at the May meeting. Remember, our largest profit comes from selling plants that are donated to us.
