July Climate for Austin

The average daily maximum temperature varies from 94 at the beginning of the month to 97 at the end. The minimum varies from 73 at the beginning to 74 at the end of the month. Extremes are 109 observed in 1954 and 64 in l970. We average about 28 days with a maximum of 90 or higher.

Precipitation averages 2.04 inches but has ranged from a wet 10.54 in 1979 to zero in 1962. A maximum 24-hour amount of 5.46 occurred in 1961. On average, precipitation is observed on 5 days during the month with thunderstorms occurring on 4 of those days.

We usually receive about 75% of the possible sunshine, and between sunrise and sunset have 12 clear days, 13 partly cloudy days and 6 days with overcast conditions. The time between sunrise and sunset decreases from about 14 hours 5 minutes at the beginning of the month to 13 hours 37 minutes at the end of the month.
